How I can help your family

Every child is different and requires careful and individual care. Below is a brief overview of the process that I usually follow, incorporating your child’s personal needs to provide a suitable solution.

STEP 1: Assessment
Firstly, I gather important information by talking to you and your child, if they are old enough. I then carry out observations and an assessment to identify any underlying difficulties affecting them at home, in school and in leisure time.

STEP 2: Report
A clear description of the assessment’s findings outlines any difficulties identified and their impact. If we agree that occupational therapy would help, we will discuss goals and draw up a therapy plan. These will be outlined in the report, along with advice to help support your child at home and school.

STEP 3: Intervention
Therapy sessions are tailored exclusively to your child and will focus on the goals we’ve jointly agreed. I’ll work with your child to help them achieve their goals, reach their potential and improve their confidence in their own ability.

STEP 4: Advice and Strategies
For the final step, I provide advice and strategies to help you and other adults support your child at home, school and in their leisure time. It’s vital that these strategies are incorporated in their everyday life, so I’ll work closely with you to ensure you’re equipped with the skills needed to maximise your child’s independence.
